Sky is going through her first moult, she's around six months old. Since this afternoon she has been very quiet, fast asleep and all fluffed up, and I'd noticed when she is pooping it's just watery. Her eyes are so tightly shut asleep so she can't be feeling great, I know it can zap them of their energy but is this normal? The loose stools too? I'm a bit paranoid after having poorly budgies in the past so thought I'd ask here first. She's got her egg food and I haven't introduced anything else so it can't be anything new that's causing this.. just a bit concerned as I've never seen her so fast asleep and she doesn't want me to go near her. Hope this is just part of the moult and it's just because it's quite demanding on her little body?

Has she been eating a lot of cuttle? As what can happen during moult they eat a lot of cuttle and therefore drink a lot more. Hence the loose poops However, how is she sleeping? Is she on both feet fluffed up when she is asleep? I hope its just the mopey moults

I hope its just the mopey moults I haven't noticed a huge increase in eating more cuttle or drinking more, she's on both feet very fast asleep - no peeking at all! Even when I go up to her cage. I guess she is just feeling under the weather and she's just got a panicky human mummy

I know a moult does take a lot out of them, I hope that's all it is. Lots of love to little Sky. Please keep us updated.

Not at all mintysowner however she maybe under the weather because of the way she is sleeping Are you able to get any guardian angel if you haven't got any already? Also, I would recommend if you can keep her somewhere warm. Are you able to get a little box even something as simple as a propagation box (for seedlings) and a hot water bottle that you can cover and place underneath? She needs to be kept quiet and dark to rest Budgies are susceptible to illness in this colder weather - is she in a draft at all? She needs to be kept warm if she is sick. Let me know how you get on

Thanks for asking after Sky!
She's been much more awake today but still producing watery poos... a couple have been a bit more solid though. I've given her cage a thorough clean so she's all squeeky clean, she's had a little bath just now too. I've also given her some Avipro probiotic just incase, which she doesn't seem to mind drinking. She's been eating and drinking fine so I guess it might just be the demand of the moult affecting her? I hope so anyway. I do worry! Thank you for everyones replies <3

Sorry to have missed this, Becca. Good to hear that Sky seems more her normal self.

You might want to stop giving her any fresh foods for the time being too if she is still doing watery poops She is far too pretty to be sick
