Dear all, Our budgie Edward (female) lost her mate James a few months back and is very lonely, which we can see by her restlessness and calling out (breaks my heart a bit). She is our little mate so we would really like for her to move in with some friends and were wondering whether anyone would be willing to let her join their flock. We reckon she is about 7-8 years old, she is blue and a funny little friend We live in Sheffield UK and are happy to give her a lift to her new place. If you have any questions - please let me know Viv

I wish I could be of help, Viv, but hopefully you will find someone who is prepared to give your little girl a new family. You wouldn't consider getting her a friend and keeping her on?

I wondered if that might be suggested. I had thought about it and then thought about the age differences. I'm reasonably confident about Joey, Whiskers is a different kettle of fish. But there again knowing what Joey can get up to, even he leaves a question mark. I'm not afraid of the breeding question as there is more than enough information on here how to avoid the patter of little claws. It's more of would Edward be able to cope with the possible attention?

OP, are you REALLY thinking about it?!

The thought has certainly crossed my mind. But I am very hesitant because of Edwards age.

I wouldn't worry about the age OP. My Sky and Blithe have become the best of friends. One is 1 year old and the other 8.

Likewise, my buds vary widely in age and this doesn't seem to be an issue at all. Were you worrying particularly about whether Joey or Whiskers would try it on too much with an older lady?

That was my thought. Joey is rather a big bird and I'm sure he could throw is weight around, that is if he could get the chance. I can certainly see Whiskers trying his luck. Feathers may fly. But on the other hand Edward may well have a say in all that.
