I quite like it. It's like women are called Michael in the US Crumbs I'm tempted to ask why? (I'm old fahsioned?) I've heard of Michaela (feminine of Michael) and Michelle but I know that Catholic's often have a male (saints?) name added to their birth name. That's humans of course, I doubt really that budgies mind

I imagine it was mistaken identity, early on.

I was sort of hoping the mystery would have been cleared up by now. Maybe I can do that in the not too distant future. Patience is required.

Hello all, Just checking the thread again and noticed all the speculation about Edward´s name. It was a simple case of thinking she was a male budgie. We got Edward from a pet shop and she was sold to us as male. She was very young and her nose had a blue hue on it, which later turned to light brown. My daughter insisted that Edward should keep her name and so she did

And so she should. I thought it would be a case of mistaken identity.

I see your daughter is quite persuasive. She is right in not changing the name as it may confuse Edward. It certainly got people talking on here.

I wouldn't worry about the age OP. My Sky and Blithe have become the best of friends. One is 1 year old and the other 8. oooh I missed this, I've been wondering about putting Mischief in with the two new youngsters and she's started 'nibbling' at the cage bars (on the newer cage!) but.....mine don't get free flying time, will that make a difference? I suppose I could always separate them again if it got a bit fraught for her. I may give it a try this weekend when I'm not busy and at home all afternoon! Bit apprehensive tho'

I know the golden rule about quarantine, but do we think it necessary in this case. I have no intention of just simply putting Edward in with the boys straight away. I will wait a few days to see if Edward settles with me. But seeing as she has been lonely without her mate and she is not a chick from a breeder nor will she be coming from an unknown source I thought I might introduce her a bit earlier than the normal 4 to 6 weeks. Any thoughts anybody?

I have obviously missed something here OP. You have got little Mrs Edward then??? Now I have to go search other threads to catch up with the story, if there is a story there. Anyway, congratulations OP, you certainly have got the 'budgie bug' now!!!! Not sure what to comment about the 'quarantine' thing, no doubt Hezz will! How about your boys then, getting a new friend. I hope they all get on really well. Looking forward to seeing some pics real soon.
