Hi guys, I was hoping you could help me with a problem I had. Last night My 3yr old Budgie Thorpe was out flying around, she fell and landed on the ground pretty hard and since then hasn't been using her right leg. She just kind leans to her left and balances on that leg while her bad leg is lifted but limp. I examined it as best as I can but I honestly don't know what I am supposed to be looking for. She doesn't appear to have any broken bones and she also doesn't seem to be in a lot of pain. She is still eating and playing with her mirror, but she's been more clingy since she got hurt. I'm thinking she may have dislocated it, but I really can't be sure. Anyone got any ideas?
Also I'm in between jobs right now so I don't have any money for the vet, but believe me if I was still working that's the first place I would have gone!

Sorry to hear your little friend is hurt. There really is only one option and that's the vets I'm afraid.

I'd say that the best hope is that the leg is sprained and that it will heal over time.
However, because you mentioned that the leg is limp, that is worrisome and would indicate that she really should be seen by a vet.
Please keep us posted.

Hi budgiebestie - welcome to the forum but sorry Thorpe has had a mishap. Do you live in the UK? I was thinking of the PDSA (charity which provides vetinary treatment). If not, is there anything similar where you live?

I'm in the U.S :/ But I will definitely start researching charities like that and see if there are any in my area. I didn't even know those existed!

The limp leg doesn't sound good to me. You might just have to bite the bullet and front for a vet bill. They may allow you to pay off a bit at a time?

Hey guy, sorry I haven't updated you in so long! Thorpe is doing GREAT now! She is able to use her leg for walking, climbing, jumping, and playing! She no longer has to stay off it and has begun to sleep on her perches again! I want to thank you all for taking the time to look at my post and lend me your ideas. Thorpe is my first bird and it was really terrifying not knowing what to do and see the change in her. Thank you all again and best of health to you and your birds! <3
