Jo has demolished a large one of these in 3 days, I admit there is an awful lot of dust on perches and table etc., I don't know how much she actually eats, is this Ok? She has never touched one before

I'm sure it's fine, sounds like mostly destruction anyway!
Hmm, is she in breeding condition due to the new boy I wonder!

As Marianne has said, more than likely just pure destruction. Does she have many toys to keep her occupied? Could be boredom or getting ready? I've had similar in the past in the main flight, totally obliterated a large block until it fell from the hanger bit that is embedded, fitted another and they used that one as you'd expect. I've also had cuttles ripped to shreds and left as dust, they're just vandals in need of ASBO's urgently!

She probably had a nibble and liked the fact that she was able to make a mess and the grinding it was doing for her beak. A new cuttlebone gets demolished to talc in the space of a day with my two hens, and they have plenty of other things to chew up as well, so I am guessing that she, Jo, simply enjoyed the experience at the time.

I think it is destruction, she has lots of toys but I think part of the problem is Pippins cage is next to hers and they can nearly touch one another. I just want his tummy to heal up a bit more and as we are not about for the next 3 nights, just going to the pub not leaving them, I want to keep an eye on Madam. The other half still has to adapt the cages yet to joint them. Apparently he needs time to think about them

I had a friend with a flock of various parrots. They had a room in the house set up like an aviary. She would go in every day and vacuum the floor, leaving the vacuum cleaner in the corner after. She did this for years until one day she went in and the cleaner was completely destroyed. They decided to trash it for some unknown reason. Probably because they could. Who knows what gets into these birdy brains.

Flipping 'Eck, I would have put it stronger, really. I think that's what she said too. We are talking about large parrots though. A few blue fronted Amazons, a scarlet macaw and others I can't remember them all, I think there were about 12 birds if I recall correctly. When you consider some of these birds can crack walnuts it doesn't sound so amazing. She has no idea if it was just one of the birds all if they all took part just that her cleaner was never used again.

Thinking about how these hens can change their mood as quick as they do it makes it quite believable.
