So, we decided we wanted Douglas to have somewhere to call his own in the living room, so he can sit with us if he doesn't want to be 'on' us, so to speak, but so we could still have him close by. So here we go, ten minutes later........ www.flickr.com/photos/132260824@N08/

Wow thankyou, we have a couple of ceiling lights that he has been stranded on a few times, this would be ideal to hang from them to discourage him from getting too close to the lights

Sticky backed plastic and flour glue is what you need. Was the furniture polished? A touch of genius I must say. I see you answered whilst I was asking.

Was the furniture polished? That was my first thought also. The tape will soon remove any trace of polish....... and varnish

Flour glue!! The possibilities are endless.... The chair we used was a lovingly restored and recovered one my Mum did for me. She would hyperventilate if she knew it was now a perch

Just be aware that the glue used on brown parcel tape will start to separate and will attach itself permanently on the varnish on your furniture, and you won't get it off, so don't leave it on there too long. Mum will probably string you up if you start ripping off the varnish
