HI folks. Please help!
I have two budgies who have watery poo and looking for some advice. Looks like the second pic posted at the opening of this thread. Thought it was only one which had it so I got some baytril (0.5ml for 5-7 days) from the vet but it turns out both do and I don't know if I should give it to them or not. Their poo has got more runny than yesterday although it's not as bad as some pictures I've seen here. They've had it for about 5 days now (I think I left some fresh food in there a little too long so possible bacterial infection) and it's stressing me but also I'm stressed as they are not used to being handled and I'm not used to handling anymore. Reasons too long to explain though I love them dearly. Any advice is much appreciated, thanks.
I hate catching them as they are so panicky and they stress me out. Should I clip their feathers again if I need to treat them for a few days and should I put them in a smaller cage to help me catch them? They're in a large-ish cage suitable for small parrots. I've had them about two years or so and I love them but I'm just not a natural birdie handler and have no one to help me.

Please, do not clip their wings. If catching them up is easier in a smaller cage, then do this; if you find using a face cloth or similar easier to hold them, then do this as well. I don't like the cloth, but some find it easier. If they have a food they absolutely always eat you can try putting their drop of AB onto the food, but then they must eat it all to get the correct dose. Also, have something they love to reward them with afterwards ....... might make you all feel better. You will need to make sure each bird gets his/her dosage and not all one bird, none for the other. Just looking back at your post - half a ml is quite a lot to give each bird, the concentration must be quite low. When I have baytril for my birds I am only administering a drop each dose; much easier for everyone, I feel. Also, you might have to talk to the vet again - if now two birds need the baytril, do you have enough to do the 5-7 days, and maybe ask for either a higher concentration or some you can add to their water.
