So today is big clean out day, everything including the wall behind the cage to be washed, F10'd and dried. So I figured due to the sheer length of this task, I'd set up Douglas's baby cage for him to spend a few hours in, lots of treats included to make it a nice experience (he watched me like a hawk as I was doing so) After a good half an hour of patiently trying to get him out of his big cage, him teasing me and playing games, I though ahh sod this, I'll just start emptying your cage of toys, see how bored you get. He twittered and tweeted at me each time another toy disappeared, then on the last toy, as I was lifting it out of his cage, he launched himself at my tummy and clung onto my top. Obviously I froze, he then flew from me to the perch on the outside of his baby cage (about 7 ft away) and then hopped in to it to munch on millet. Needless to say I dropped the toy to clap and cheer!!

Jo's loves to jump on your back as you are bending down and you don't know where she is. Well it is Douglas's cage and you really shouldn't mess with his things, it is like a burglary

I just take all the perches out, one by one. I finish up with Edward sat on the last one and transfer her to the spare cage that's waiting for her. The other two are in the conservatory by now.

It was just such a suprise! I expected to have to wait for him to realise he had nothing to play with. Then coax him out with millet etc. But nope, he made his own mind up and was off! I still think he might be a hen.....

I have to do the same with Basal. I take things out one by one, slowly because he is so timid. Eventually he allows me to take him to the bedroom where I can watch him and clean the cage in the bathroom. But it doesn't take too long because I go ahead and wash toys and perches as I take them out and set them to dry. By the time I'm done with the cage and hand dry it the perches and toys only need a little longer. We play around in the bedroom until then.
