It has to be much, much easier to take the rings off while they are loose, rather than wait until they are tight - that would be a two-person job.
Sam, could you post a photo of your special scissors, as I am having problems visualizing them; haven't hear the term before. Is it a metal ring that Murph had, or plastic?

Totally agree It was a metal ring Hezz and people in the medical field usually have heard of them - "Downs" are surgical brand name of scissors like McIndoe We have two pairs one which are curved (used for things such as tonsils) and a straight pair which I used See here

Tonsil Scissors....... Glad Murph is going to be fine, hope you've calmed down a bit today too samwiseg Actually, I stand corrected I spoke to my OH about them and he has informed me that they are Downs Mayo Stainless Steel Surgical Scissors (The tonsil ones are actually called tonsil snares (which we do not have a set of) The curved ones are especially good as they not only cut, but they can prise open the openings of skin and wounds too because of their smooth outer edging. And if you are wondering how my OH acquired them, he was manager of TSSU & SSD (Theatre Sterile Services Unit & Sterile Services Department) and was given them by a instrumentation rep that visited the department They cost a fortune!

Thanks, Sam. I certainly recognized the scissors.

No, no. Pathology was my forte, but surgical scissors tended to get around, you might say.
