I'm wondering if this is due to his poorly episode recently. He has developed some interesting colouration on his chest area. These are the best pictures I could get as he's a very timid bird and by no means tame.

Could it be because of Ditto being around, afterall she is a female and he nay be displaying his true colours, that's best guess, am sure someone more experienced will be along to suggest

He's going through a moult, the first since I found him half dead in the bottom of the aviary and these are the new feathers. He has French moult, lost his flight and tail feather so ended up on his back, I only found him when he was exhausted and close to death. He now lives in a cage next to me with his new best friend Echo.

He is looking so much better. You certainly have patience and a very loving, caring personality.

He's looking handsome! How old is he now SQ? I've had him for 3 years in September, not sure how old he was when we rescued him though.

SQ, do you remember we had a member on a while back, think she might have been from Melbourne, Aust, whose budgie had some of these blue feathers amongst the green?? He was rather elderly, I think, but in seemingly good health, and the same thing happened - one moult he ended up with these blue feathers. I'll see if I can find the thread.

Yes I do remember now Hezz. Thanks for finding it for me, that's exactly what Titch is like, the colour just on the tips of the feathers but only not as widespread. I wonder how Max is after his moult. Would be interesting to see.

Bezukhov had something similiar. I asked the vet about it & in his case it was very likely due to his liver not functioning properly. He has of course had lots of medication since, to support his liver, & I'm sure that since his last moult this colour change is less noticeable.
Anyway, it could be down to that or some kind of nutritional deficiency.

I think it could be caused by some sort of stress to the system. Like the stress lines that show up on feathers sometimes. The trauma Titch went through, the dehydration etc could be showing in his feathers. Humans have the same thing happen with their hair I believe.

And nails - humans, I mean. And not just from a knock directly to the nail, but ongoing health problems. I think it nearly has to be from his seizure, or whatever it was that caused Titch's problems. Or the colour change could be like a white/grey streak appearing in a person's hair after some sort of trauma ....... although that is usually a more permanent thing ....... I think. But with the colour change only being on the tip of the feathers, not all the way down the shaft, I wonder how that works......... hmmm
