I'm finally fulfilling a dream from childhood; which is to have budgies again. I might have gone slightly overboard and got myself eight budgies. I'm now trying to figure out which gender each of them are. It's kind of hard because some of them are still relatively young. I would appreciate it if you could give me a few hints. I apologize for the fuzziness of some of the pictures, but my hand started to get really shaky after a few pics.

Here's my cage. It's still a work in progress. Four budgies upstairs and four downstairs.

Hello and welcome swiper. What a challenge taking on eight at the same time! I hope you did your research!!! Picture D looks like an albino hen to me, I have one identical to this and it looks like she has the red eyes to confirm it. The others I wouldn't dare guess, but bigger pictures showing true colours and wings would be helpful to those who can tell you their breed and gender. Picture H looks like a pied of some sort.

Hey there swiper and welcome! There is no such thing as "overboard" when getting budgies, IMHO you can never have enough

Overboard? surely not! If you have the time and space for them then I'm sure it's a fab idea

I see A, G and H as male; B, C, E as female and I am fence-sitting on D and F . Clear photos of both would be good.

I think it is time Mintysowner, you keep coming back to posts saying you want one, so it is imminent.

This is absolutely my worry ffiscool, I'd soooo love another 1 but what if Brodie & the new 1 didn't get on? Also if the new 1 was the boss, how fair is that on Brodie? For all his life he's led a pampered life of eating when he wants/ sleeping where he wants etc. Sometimes I think he'd love a friend but other times I'm not sure. When I feel more well, I think it's a fab idea but when I crash out, I'm struggling to cope with 1 never mind double trouble, but I still really want to get another in my heart. Also how long is too long when they've been alone for it not to be fair on the lone bird? B's 2 & about 3 months. I so wish our buds could tell us the answer!

I am the same. I feel Bailey is missing out but he has my undivided attention and I think he thinks he is human.
