Yesterday some extended family members and I went to go and look at a cockatiel who had a deformed leg - when we got there we were informed that it actually had splayed legs, but with work one of them healed completely, the other not as well. They ended up getting the little guy (or girl) and man oh man is he a sweetheart! He cuddles up right into you, gives kisses and loves being stroked/getting his head scratched. He ate and drank and sat outside his cage happily chirping and munching on veggies and millet. He's 10weeks old now so my question is what kind of therapy/exercises can they do with him to help his little leg? Naturally his leg gets lifted up to the side and he balances on his good foot, but his leg, with a little weight or a finger to grab onto sits normally with ease underneath him (he has a lot of flexibility in it, I just assume it's easier to hold up?). The breeder came up with little weights and my aunt is looking to make him something like a "shoe" out of wood (that will be safe to chew if he decides to) that will be vet wrapped at times to his bad foot/leg and with this he can walk. Any advice tips are greatly appreciated!

Thanks Barrie! That's what my vet had mentioned to me as well. They are taking the little dude to an avian vet on Monday to just get everything checked out as well
