Great news; so happy for you and Gene. Would love to see him looking better. Marianne has added an easy-peasy image adding device to the forum so that now you don't have to go through a photo-hosting site ...... in case you might have missed this. It is the grey button on the left hand side of you reply box. So click on that, choose computer, then browse, find your photo in your computer files and select, upload in the "add image" box and in a few seconds it is done. It will appear as a thumbnail, but we can then click on that and view the photo in real size. Oh, and just check that the photo size in the image box says 640 x480 and make sure "adults only" is not selected!

Thanks for making images better. Yes he is just a wonder I tell you, such a fighting spirit. Many humans would have just given up by now, but Gene just takes it in his stride and carries on. Bless him. Just got to carry on until the right eye gets better, then hopefully the feathers will all grow back. The poor little button!

I know I've more than one post ongoing at the moment but my poor Gene has sore eyes again.
Well, they've always been sore, but they'd got quite a lot better. His eyes have been watering, and gunk forming. The hubby has just tried with warm water to remove it. His poor skin around his eyes looks so sore. He is his usual self, breaks my heart he can't be with the other in the aviary. Why won't his eyes heal!??
I've a telephone appointment with my vet (who I rehomed Gene from) on Wednesday about one of my dogs, so I am going to talk to her about Gene and his eyes. Poor thing needs it diagnosing and treating. Everything they've tried hasn't worked. They go bad, then they go through a period of being quite good. Hubby is convinced it's his sinuses, but from research I've done his cere should be clogged or at least dripping, and it's not.
Poorly animals - heartbreaking.

Hey! I'm also facing the same problem with my pigeon bird. His eyes even started bleeding. There's this mycoplasma gallisepticum which is in the yellow crsty thing and the water in his eyes. So you need to kill the bacteria out there. Listen to his breathing sound if he's making sounds like coughing and sneezing he's probably suffering from sinus. You can go for a culture test. But keeping your bird in the sunlight helps. Try to buildup his immune system give him multivitamins I give my bird foods like peanuts, sunflower seeds, Gram seeds. They improve birds immune system. Use disinfectants as this spreads fast. Clean his water bowl with disinfectant. Though you won't get effected by that. To control further feather loss i placed an cotton eye patch with Soframycin around his eye so that he don't rub it as that liquid inside the eye causes feather loss wherever it goes. It can be a cause of vitamin a deficiency as well give him spinach juice from a dropper or multivitamin helps. Antibiotics are also important. I hope these things help. Get well soon little buddy ❤️
