Evening all,
I've been at my parents house for the holidays and Billly has spent the last few nights in my room in his cage. It's only a small room and tonight I thought he might like to come out for a stretch of wings. He hopped on his cage for a bit, did a few circuits of the room as he didn't know where to land and I spent some time getting him to step up and trying to persuade him onto my shoulder. He was on my finger when he started to head bob a few times and then shake is head distributing seeds all over me and the room. I put him back and he did it four or five more times before settling down. He went to his food and nibbled his seeds but he looks a little subdude. I know its hard to tell when you can't see him but any ideas what it might have been ? Did he upset himself flying round and vomit or was he trying to be affectionate?
Any suggestions gratefully received as I'm rather worried.

Hello
If he did not know the layout of the room that you let him out in and he flew around in circles again and again, I would say that this stressed him out, so he vomited.
If a bird regurgitates food to you, they do not throw it all over the place, they place it all in the desired place.
I wouldn't let him out again until he's in his normal surroundings.

If the seeds are dry' ish i shouldn't worry too much he probably over exerted himself after just eating and was a little stressed. If the seeds are sticky or smelly then he should see a vet.

The seeds were definitely sticky but I have a cold so can't comment on any smell.
He's eaten since he's been back so it was probably just exertion but I will be keeping an eye on him and am trying to find an avian vet near me in case I need one urgently.
Thank you for your replies.

They will be a little bit sticky if he is regurgitating but if it smells fishy then that's different. Even with a cold i think you would smell it. It sounds as if it was just a blip, i hope so anyway
