I have had birds of one sort or another pretty much all my life. Most recently we had a Senegal parrot who unfortunately died. I got him twenty three years ago and have missed the sound of a bird in the house. I decided I wanted some small cage birds and remembered fondly the budgie I had as a child. I have been lurking here about a week and decided budgies were what I wanted so I picked up a little guy on the way home. I am thinking one now and once he is tame, I will add a second. I think they will not stay as tame that way but since I work I think I need two so they won't be lonely. Anyway, I have rambled enough - just wanted to say hi!

Hi and welcome, Grace. I just have to say, please let your little bird fly; if the wings have been clipped, as is very common in the States, please allow them to grow back and allow your budgie the freedom of flight. Yes, it does make it harder to train them, but at least you know that are with you because they want to, rather than have no choice. If you get a good bond going with your first bird, there is no reason for that bond to be lost with a second. Often it helps the second bird settle in, knowing that the other budgie is happy to be around humans.

Our Senegal was fully flighted. i do hope getting one first works out. I got the idea from reading posts on here!

Thank you!!! Personally I can't see the point of having a bird if it doesn't get to fly; if unable to, of course that is a different story.

I agree! my budgies have always been fully flighted and always will be! except for poor basilina she just cant fly she was born with a deformed wing! that doesnt stop her living life to the full and what she lacks in flying she makes up for in climbing shes quite the little acrobat! she managed to climb all the way to the top of the curtains once! sat there proud as punch! shes a feisty little madam too!
