My concern with what you have described is firstly that two weeks between treatments seems a lot to me, as the hatchlings will them be adult and possibly gone on to breed themselves, so you have a reinfestation straight off. By treating them each week for three weeks, which is usually enough to kill off all adults and then those that hatch after the initial dosing, and the third to finish off the job for any that may have hatched late. Secondly three drops seems a lot, so is it possible that the concentration is less than 0.1%? It would be good to see that packet; this might be a breakthrough way of treating for mites. I do not mean to question the advice you have received from your vet, presuming this was an avian vet. If the degus are susceptible to mites as well, then for the sake of all animals I would get the 0.1% Ivermectin and treat on a preventative basis. The only problem I see there is that the degus may need a stronger concentration of ivermectin, being a larger animal ....... although dosage is given as a number of drops relative to body weight. It should work.

The degus are on a higher dose of ivermectin than the biger dose than the budgies the packaging was a blank box with the pipets in do you think I should dose again Saturday then who's would have been a week between the prescribed dose. Yes it was my avarian vet o saw

No, that doesn't help me at all, sorry. It is your call. I can't give you advice on something I know nothing about. I don't know what this Xeno spot on is ........ I only know that the Ivermectin 0.1% works and is the treatment of choice for almost every breeder and budgie keeper that I know of. It probably depends on how much you trust your vet ...... Also, your last post is a bit odd re wording, so not sure if you were on a phone/predictive text or just what.

Yes sorry I was trying to be sneaky at work the Xeno spot on is exactly the same as ivermectin that you have stated I need to buy I believe. I do trust my vet I use the same one for my degus and he's always been very reliable

If your vet is a good person, you should feel comfortable asking him what's what, and he shouldn't mind having you asking questions, to clarify what it is you are to do. He might say we are talking through our hat and not to listen to us. But hopefully he would explain why.

How do they seem to you? Not so irritated, we hope. They are still itching but i dont know if that's just normal bird scratching or me being paranoid.but it's alot less than two weeks ago, They seem much happier and not pulling at feathers now and the sore patches from scratching so much has healed up nicely and I haven't found a single mite in their cage or their white night blanket. They've defo become More vocal since they've been feeling better back to their old gobby selves. We were watching TV last night and they were both hanging onto the door of the cage shouting at us and when we looked they stopped. This is what they do when i get home from work as they know there coming out for play time lol. I didn't let them out yesterday tho as they have been treated. They will be so pleased too come out today. But apparently it HAS to be after the f1 as their to loud when their out lol :-D
