Hey everyone,
Just thought I'd share a story with everyone. I'd been having a really bad week this week, all made worse by my coming home on Friday to find 2 of my favourite hens had been fighting...it had been going on for some time. As I'm really busy at the moment, I had to make the painstaking decision of giving one of them to one of my fosterers to look after for a while. So I decided on Botu as she's the more temperamental and seems to pick on others more regularly, whereas, Phirri is adorable and only has an issue with Botu. Also, Botu gets very jealous of any other budgie (including babies) getting attention from me.
So off I went to Jack's house with Botu in her carry box giving me her puppy eyes. Jack asked if she was tame, so I said "yes of course she'll happily come on your hand, but she's in a bit of a strop with me at the moment so she might bite " so I took her out of he carry box, passed her to Jack to hold her but she didn't want to go to him, there was a window open she flew straight out and was clinging onto a bush. As I opened the door to go get her, she flew off - I was absolutely devastated, made a bad week worse. Had a look around for her nowhere in site, was on the phone to the RSPCA to report her missing but was on hold for an hour noone answered so I had to hang up as I had to be at the youth centre where I volunteer.
An hour or so later, Jack rang me to say he could see her in a tree and asked what to do, so I told him to take some other budgies out to her, and she came down to them and he grabbed her, so we got her back - best news I'd had all week
Now Jack has fallen in love with her and desperately wants to keep her, but she's the only chick of Violet, a hen, who I had for many years and was very attached to (she came from a bad breeder and was very aggressive when she came in, but really mellowed and learnt to trust me over the years, I was devastated when she died last November).
Decisions, decisions!!
I hope all's well with everyone and their flock!
