I have no idea what the mutation is, but they look identical to the buds I saw in an earlier post.

the one on the seed dish is a cobalt cinnamon normal the one on the floor is a cobalt opaline cinnamon both look like hens xxx

the cinnamon dilutes the cobalt to a slightly paler cobalt xxxx

For what it is worth I agree with Gaile: two hens, both cinnamon cobalt, one opaline (second photo, with her back to the camera).

Is that staining on her head? Both female. Its just light reddish feathers that came out,but i read budgies dont carry a red gene so its very mindblowing

As mentioned in your other thread, some shop owners, especially in the subcontinent, use this chalk/dye as a way of marking some birds. We have not been able to work out for what reason ..... their own, and they keep that to themselves. Budgies do not carry the red gene - true. I asked on your other thread, where in the world are you? ?? I had speculated that it might be to differentiate between different breeders' birds.

I'll give you a wave from across the ditch, then. If you are ever near the shop, why not pop in and ask about the red dye, or whatever it is, and the reason for it? I would love to know. If they try to palm you off with natural/ red feathers/emerging or anything similar, you know they are telling you porkies! PS Hope you are keeping an eye on those sharks. Not nice, them trying to feed on our top surfer.
