Are they all from Charlie?, some look ok the darker ones but the light ones, not so great but then it could be the spinach.

They don't look too bad to me either, especially if they have had some greens.

I think our minds have synch'ed, skysmum ... my initial thought was that they looked like poop from two different birds ...... is that true, sallybird??? Some are okay; some not so okay ..... I would still hold off on the greens, particularly spinach, for a short time. Some probiotics might help his gut get back to normal.

They are from two different birds yes, and I am assuming the light ones are from Charlie, and as he is still getting some stuck to his bottom (whch is now bald ) I have decided to treat him for a few more days. Everything I have read about the fungizone has said it should be given for a minimum of 10 days and as I'm not sure he always gets the full dose (it is a messy business), and I don't want to have to restart treatment if it hasn't worked, I'm going to treat for a full two weeks. I won't give them any spinach for a couple of days to see if that makes a difference. Then I guess it's back to the vets if that hasn't worked. He seems more perky - definately harder to catch now and seems to be less sleepy. I have been giving probiotics. Thanks I'll let you know how he gets on.

Ah, thought different buds, they really need to look like the dark ones to be out of the woods i think. Keep us posted, i would leave off any veg for a week or so otherwise you wont get a true indication of what's going on.

I have had terrible problems with Squawks poo for months now. Runny, urates missing, and green polyuria. I took him to a proper avian vet on Saturday, the results are through, but need to ring vet to discuss tomorrow. The vet gave me some Avipro Avian powder and its made a big difference already. Squawks poos are drying up, and the white bits are returning. Squawk is on the maximum dose. I had been putting a pinch of Avipro plus on his food twice a week for months as prescribed by a regular vet and it wasn't the correct stuff. Speak to your vet first about giving him anything though as he may need different stuff to Squawk.

Thanks, I have been giving him the avipro probiotic powder in his water for some time, maximum dose twice a week and this stopped his initial problem (which was vomiting) for some time. He then started with the funny poops. I have now treated him with the fungizone as well for 2 weeks but he is not really right. He's not as perky as he should be, he seems run down and a bit lethargic. I have booked another appointment with the avian vet for Tuesday, I think he may suggest x-rays to rule out digestive tumours, I can't help feeling he may have something serious.

I also need to take Squawk to the vets again on Monday. His crop was test wash was negative, so he needs x -rays and blood tests. Vet thinks it could be his liver or kidneys. Never ending isn't it?

I have taken Charlie back to the vets and was given lots of options. I went for the x-rays which I'm glad I did as they have revealed the rather unpleasant truth. Charlie has 3 tumours, an enlarged liver and unusual (possibly simply infected) kidneys. He has also laid down a lot of excess abdominal fat since his last visit which I think the vet said was due to his metabolism not working correctly. This is sadly not an operable state of affairs but as he is amazingly chirpy considering all his problems we are going to give him 5 days of baytril (longer if it seems to be helping) for his kidneys and panzym which should help with his digestion. I will clean his little bottom end once a day when I give him his meds and I will spoil him rotten and try to make his last days as wonderful as possible.

I am so sorry sallybird to read this. I can't think of anything else to say, but he's lucky to have such a caring owner like you x

Poor little Charlie, he's really had it thrown at him.

Poor little fellar, talk about short straws. If you can keep him free of pain that will be wonderful.
