I'm very new to the forum and to budgie keeping..... I have introduced myself on the introductions page already but I thought I'd show you my Budgie Elvis new home...... "Graceland"
He has been living in it for a couple of days now having been in and out for a couple of hours at a time each day before that and seems to be very interested in it..... I think he likes it.
I had originally got over excited at the thought of getting a budgie and so had bought everything I could think of without researching fully.
So I have now tossed all the vision perches, the snuggle house thingy and taken some of the other toys out to save for the next few months to give a bit of variety.
I also was happy to discover that my contorted twisted hazel tree in the garden is budgie safe ..... So I've boiled the branches and then dried them out and he now has lovely free natural perches. He seems to really like them!
He gets to have free flying for a few hours a day......although he is only a baby so is just getting used to landing without crashing.
So anyway.... Here is the final video.... It's a Vision medium tall.

I found with the Vision cages they are perfect for budgies, Easy clean, easy to get spare parts yip I recommend them. But beware if you put a Cockatiel or small parakeet in them the plastic fasteners and fittings are soon wrecked. I use 2 visions for Archie and Floss, and 4 in our training room, the birds love them.

Oh no that's awful if the fittings go on them! I'll keep a good eye to make sure I get replacements if they start to look dodgy.

I think that Shewbert meant that the fittings get chewed by other birds, not budgies.
I have two hagen visions and a ferplast-style cage the hagens are really good.

Where did you get the ladder from? I haven't seen one like that before. Got it off eBay.... I fact I got a few of those coloured bits off the same seller.... The spiral at the top of the cage, the swing with the bell and the flat swing (and some other bits in the cupboard ready for the next change around) pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=252046686242&globalID=EBAY-GB

You may find that I am often the voice of doom, so here goes ....... for my peace of mind there is waaay too much going on in that cage. You could take half the stuff out and he will still have plenty to play with. Regardless of him having time out to fly about each day, he really does need room in the cage to be able to fly from perch to perch for exercise. Budgies can, and will, become obese if things are made too easy for them so make sure he has to fly about to get to perches, hang upside down to munch on a treat, or play with a favourite toy. You get the idea? Yes, he needs stimulation in the cage, but I feel you would be better making frequent changes with the cage toys (as in every few days) rather than a huge variety all at once. Also, give him things he can chew on; he will chew on the willow, but if you don't already have any, get some pieces of balsa wood and make up your own toys for him to chew on, make sure any wooden beads or the like are not painted, and only dyed with vegetable dye.

Thanks Hezz.... Appreciate all feedback as I'm totally new to this budgie keeping.... I tried to keep everything to the side as of the cage including the perches so he has room to fly from perch to perch in the middle... Your right though, there is a lot going on in there.... I'll take some more bits out!
Thank you again xxx
