She has iris rings Marianne Marlow , and from memory I think ninz1 said that Suraj had had her for two years. She looks young to me and the bars down the back of her head are all smudgey!! (Hence the name). Yes, he did say a few years but then I wonder.... his uncle had this budgies and then passed it on to Suraj. I wonder if she is older than we think?

If I had the money Marianne, I'd jump on a plane to rescue an animal! I know you would Nina! After talking to you, it's obvious how much you care about animals. It's great that Ziyad is so supportive too, he's a keeper! It's great to have a partner who listens and supports you. I wouldn't be able to rescue the pigeons, foxes and now this budgie without him. (It's not really a rescue as I find them and then we drop them off to rescue centres... except for the fox. That was my own doing and it's mange went away in 3 months! I was so pleased!) I can't wait to have another budgie in my life, not sure when but definitely at some point. This time, I am going to be strict and not let the budgie get his/her way. Unless of course it has a sweet tweet and big eyes and looks extremely cute. Then I am done for! Imzi had the cutest face and he got away with so much, I miss kissing his little face and his head would bob backwards as I kissed him. Such a patient, loving boy. Still haven't gotten over it all

Hmm. Guess we might never know the age then?

Hmm. Guess we might never know the age then? After the bars on the head have come off, is it then difficult to tell the age? Is there anyway of knowing medically? Would a blood test be helpful

All sounds good Shirls. I bet the feeling of the nice soft perches are heaven to her little feet. Can I ask how you are medicating them Shirls? Fucidin cream JB. It was recommended by a member on here some time ago. And fortunately my daughter was prescribed some recently, (yes it can be used for birdies too), so that is what I am using. Used it successfully on Missy too.

Smudge only has white on her face at the front Hezz, down the back where the bars go is all smudgey blue and hardly shows any bars at all, very pretty. I will take a picture later on to show you.

That's right Shirls, she's an opaline just like my Snowy was (although he was pied too, so ignore the wing markings, but look at the back of the head.)

Bear in mind that Snowy was only 3 months there, so it's before his first moult.

Very pretty Marianne! Smudge though, is all blue smudgey down the back where his bars should be.

Shirls perhaps you might consider getting Smudge a wooden corner platform in case she wants to have a rest? I have some and ooccasionally a budgie will lay down on one. I have a runged plastic platform thing I use at the door for easy landing. Would this be the same thing? just trying to further my knowledge? Thanks

Would a blood test be helpful I don't think a blood test would help. Even so, I wouldn't put a bird through a blood test for this when it's unnecessarily

hi i really hope after 2 weeks you have found this poor birdie a home. I'm afraid I am more than 200 miles away but have a very big cage with 2 not very tame, but sweet budgies, Sunny and Speedy, rattling about in it. There's plenty of room for no.3 and would love to have given him a home. so depressing and makes me angry when sometimes I hear folk say " they're only budgies" and think they don't need decent care. Anyway hope the birdie is ok xxx
regards Di x

Yes, the bird (Smudge) is settled in a new home now. Read page 12
