Found him on the 20th July resting on a cement mixer ! Bless him. He is a friendly little chap or should I say was, he is ringed and so I needed to have a look at the number to see if I could find the breeder. He hates me now! Which is probably just as well because I would love to keep him but can't! I contacted a breeder in Worthing and he had never heard of the number I gave him. The plot thickens! I have had him advertised on just about every social media site that I can and nobody has come forward. I think this may turn out to be a matter of finding him a home. Regarding the number on the ring it might be worth contacting The Budgerigar Society as they issue rings to their Members so if the budgie was bred by a Member they might have a record of the breeder. www.budgerigarsociety.com/contact/He is a lovely budgie, hope he is settle soon.

Don't the rings have a colour and date that can give some idea of the age of the budgie? I took this from the budgie society website - this link - www.budgerigarsociety.com/ring-speccolour/Violet 249 U 4008 2009 2015 Orange 1505 U 2003 2010 2016 Dark Blue 301 U 5019 2011 2017

milliej, some breeders order their own rings solely to keep track of their stock; they don't necessarily register their rings with the BBS.

Oh I see Hezz, May not identify the breeder but I thought perhaps it might be handy if the year was on the ring to identify how old this little fella/girl is, didn't they used to use (may have changed) a certain colour to identify the year the budgie was born too? The ring on the budgie in the picture looks black but I may be completely wrong, apologies if so!

They do do different colours for different years, unless someone is just ringing their budgies themselves and not officially

Thanks for all your replies. I emailed the society and have not had a reply back yet.
I did contact a breeder in Worthing and he basically said what Hezz said. Rings can be just a record for the breeder. There is a horizontal code on the ring, the breeder seemed to think that was the breeders initials and the number 15 represents his age as in 2015.
I am no expert but his cere is very blue so I am guessing his a fella!
I know it sounds crazy but ive only just lost my budgie boy a month or so ago and really dont feel ready to have another. Then, there is part of me that thinks i'm meant to have him! Oh my, I hate being sensitive (atrb_partsz)

It is not crazy.. I think it is totally normal, but I do wonder too, if fated.. of all the people for a beautiful bud to find... I am so sorry you lost yours. it is so hard and he will always be with you. Mine is from many many moons ago, in my heart.
Would the breeder maybe know of someone who would like a budgie? Or you could put up signs in the local vets?
