JoJo is not well.
She seems to breath heavily and also makes a slight squeak and click when she breathes.
The click is almost always there but the squeak seems to happen when she feels stressed.
Why haven't you taken her to the vet?, I hear you say. I have lost faith in my vet, not a single sick bird has been saved so far by going to the vet. Could it be that I didn't notice the signs early enough, I don't know.
I am even considering doing an online consultation with Dr Ross Perry in Australia.
So far I have treated her for air sac mites with 0.1% ivermectin, one dot on the crop (all the boys got treated with ivermectin at the same time). Currently I'm giving her baytril twice a day, with a little emeraid formula and water.
She is 9 years old. My big worry is that she had a tumour and I'll be told to put her to sleep.
Any advice would be great, I took this video of her on Friday morning, I hope you can hear the sound she makes.

Oh no Marianne!!! Poor JoJo and poor you. Sounds like you are doing all the right things there. I know how you feel about the vet. Fingers crossed that your treatment works for the little soul, you are doing all you can for her. With your love and care hopefully she will pull through. How long has she been like this, how many days of treatment have you given her? Hopefully you've caught it all early.

She's been like it a couple of weeks. We had to wait for the ivermectin to turn up before we could do anything because I wanted to see if that would work before I gave her any antibiotics. She's on day 4 of a 7 day course of baytril.

Have you also given her just the one dose of Ivermectin or are you giving her once a week for three weeks if I recall?

Best of luck Marianne Marlow - you are doing everything you can for her that I would have done - I cant think of anything further you would be able to administer - only guardian angel after her antib's perhaps? Here's keeping my fingers crossed, and positive vibes being sent to you and JoJo x

There is also an iodine deficiency, but she does use the iodine block.
I need a magic injection that makes her well again!

I forgot to mention, her "voice" is slightly strangled when she shouts or squiggles. Doesn't sound right.

I am aware that a vet can administer iodine injections to help with that Marianne Marlow, is that something you would consider? As that would be a higher dosage than a block...perhaps ask your local vet for advice before going ahead? Asking is free afterall

Or you could add Lugol's to her water? I remember Barrie saying about it?

I am sorry that I don't have anything to offer in the way of help, Marianne. Do you have, or have access to Meloxicam? If she is in any pain, this will help. Have you tried iodine drops in case it is a deficiency in that area?

Okay, some posts came through while I was writing mine. Try iodine tincture, if you can, Marianne. 3 drops into 100mls water 25mg/ml is the concentration. xxx

I don't have access to Meloxicam Hezz. Would I syringe her the iodine? How much a day?

Marianne ive just had exactly the same with my little Isla, Ive treated her for three weeks with the Ivermectin and they have all just had a 10 day course of Tricho plus.
I am in exactly the same position as you with regard to a vet, mine is now in Oxford and don't have much faith bird wise in any others round here. When I examined Isla she does have a bit of a D shaped chest so I am now thinking about a dreaded Tumour although these past few days her noise and clicking is better. Maybe try Tricho.
