As I say Whiskers makes that sort of noise, usually when he's trying to make up to another budgie. As far as I know he has no problems.

Marianne, as I mentioned, the iodine tincture concentration is 25mg/ml, should be able to buy from the chemist, and add three drops into 100mls of water.
She may also have a lipoma, a fatty benign mass that is pressing on her organs. I don't know how you would go about reducing that, though, with her being such a fussy eater.

Not dumb; it is really confusing as different companies use different ways of measuring ..... so just to show, this site shows that 25mg/ml is equal to 2.5%: www.endmemo.com/sconvert/mg_mlper.phpSorry; I thought what I had put in would show up .. but do for yourself to be sure. Tincture is a very weak solution, and not nearly prone to the overdosing of the higher levels.

We made a small breakthrough this morning. I noticed that JoJo couldn't bend down to get to her water properly, so I held up a medicine cup with water in it to her and she sipped some, for about 30 seconds, obviously very thirsty.
Ever since, she's been making less distressed noises. Not stopped just a little less.
I gave her some more ivermectin too, second dose of three.

I don't see why not. If you can get a dose into her first thing and then allow her to drink for herself for a few days ...... do you think that would be possible? From what I know of this, treatment brings quick results, as in within the week, with the daily dosage.

I don't know if she can drink for herself as she seems to have trouble bending down. But I can syringe it in the morning and then try and give her some in a medicine cup.

I had to order some on the internet. My local chemist doesn't have any iodine and even boots don't have it.
Hope it comes tomorrow.

sounds promising with less noise.. I got some once in Pets at Home but it wasn't pure Iodine - it was drops I think with other stuff in too.

Its not brilliant news with Isla Marianne, she was quite noisy again this morning when I went in, it is worse when she is moving or gets stressed and considering she has had three lots of Ivermectin I started to rule out air sac mites. So I caught her up to bring her in but decided to have a feel of her tummy first and I can definitely feel quite a sizable mass . She is happy and sometimes you wouldn't notice anything was wrong with her, Chilli loves her to bits and feeds and grooms her constantly so I let her go back to be with her flock. I had exactly the same with Freddy when she had her tumour in the last couple of months, its obviously compromising the air sacs and or lungs, she's only 2 bless her Sorry for hijacking your post Marianne, i just thought we could bounce off each other with the similar symptoms, I do hope little JoJo will be ok. x
