We are thinking that sometime after the New Year we will be putting a Nest Box in for Piña and Juju...she is trying to build nests from newspaper and anything she can get ahold on, and her cere has gone wrinkly brown twice now...I think she wants to breed...which I have no problems with honestly, but I want to wait until January-February because it'll be summer here still. (I know chicks are a big responsibility and that is why I havent given her a box yet..in December I will visit my parents in Texas and Hubby will be left to care for the buds) But as far as Nest Boxes are concerned, I was wondering if you thought this would work: goo.gl/images/Unhp7I it is called My Spy Birdhouse It has a one way mirror so you can look in but they cant see you, do you think it is big enough? I want to get one while I am in the USA. I will look up measurements!

There are contrasting reports on the My Spy Birdhouse...some say it is made of Resin, others say it is wood but flimsy...if I find it in the store I would take it out of the box to see how it really was...
I cant find the dimensions either...but someone said it fits Wrens and Nuthatches...so it maybe too small for budgie..and here I thought I had hit the gold mine...

Could you get something made up using the same ideas, but bigger? To be honest, though, I wouldn't use the suction plugs. If anything were to happen there ..... I hate to think.

I was thinking of removing the suction cups (If I got it) and maybe stapling the wood with staple gun to run through some zip ties or something! To keep it firmly attatched to the side of the cage. I wish I knew someone crafty enough with wood to make it budgie-able.

Suctions cups are yes, made of plastic resin. Polyvinyl chloride to be exact. You can bore holes in your nestbox using a drill and use cable ties, instead of suction cups to fasten it to the cage.

Went to the Local Farmer's Market today and there is a man who sells budgies! I bought a Nest Box from him that he recommended to us especially for budgies (he breeds Budgies, Cockatiels, Finches, and Love Birds and had different types of Nests/Boxes accordingly) made of wood connects to cage from the outside. Thinking I might get the My Spy and see if the one sided mirror will fit into the sliding top so maybe we can still see the chicks? Anyways thought I would share that thought, we wont know until January though when I get back from vacation.
