My budgie snowy has recently developed offensive smelly poos which are wetter than normal. Does anyone have any ideas as to the cause and is this serious?

Is she getting ready to lay eggs? Because breeding hens have bigger, smelly poos.

Snowy is a boy so I dont think he is about to lay an egg! The poos are really wet and runny - they don't have the normal white bit. I can't believe I'm discussing bird poop!

I believe this may be due to his feed, what will he eat on a normal day?

I have a boy called Snowy too. Oh discussing bird poo is normal here. We love it! Do you have a photo of the poo? Snowy is a boy so I dont think he is about to lay an egg! The poos are really wet and runny - they don't have the normal white bit. I can't believe I'm discussing bird poop!

There's a terrible line from an old 70s movie: "Looks like poo. Smells like poo. Tastes like poo. Ain't you glad we didn't stand in it!"

Snowy is a boy so I dont think he is about to lay an egg! I have a Snowy too which is a female so I thought so. Barrie is right as always, change of diet can result in runny poop. My new budgies always have this for a week or so when they start eating greens with me. Obviously no one offers them greens in pet stores.

Thanks for your suggestions and help. We are feeding Snowy with seed from the same source, though we have just bought a new batch. Other than budgie mix and millet, we give him silverbeet and chickweed, which we wash before hand. So it is the same as usual. I do note that he seems to be eating more recently. I think I will get more seed mix and see if that helps. Thanks all.
