Hi guys! Here's a picture of my male budgie Rio and female budgie Jewel. I just got her about 5 days ago because I plan to breed them later on. Male is a blue spangle budgie and I believe the female is a Yellow Face type 2 budgie? I did my research! Hopefully I'm right. I just want them to bond for now and I will try to get them to breed later on in the future. She might be a little young right now but my male is around 1 1/2 years old. She seems to be a little under a year? Took me forever to find her after I searched so many pet stores for this specific color. They aren't really fighting, but 90% when my male goes near the female she starts screeching! He doesn't even have to touch her. I can definitely tell that hes attracted to her, but shes giving him a tough time. Do I just have to be patient? He is a little bigger than her. They're both really beautiful budgies! I really hope they bond so one day I can have them breed! Can I get some tips on how to get them to bond? I've bred budgies many times, but I really want this color combination to work. Hopefully i get rainbow budgies! THANK EVERYONE!

I sincerely hope you put the new female in quarantine for the recommended time. As for bonding either they will or they won't. You say you did your research, but if you had researched the posts on this forum you would have seen the answers. It is quite normal for females to behave as you describe.

She is in another cage. I do occasionally let them fly around to get their daily exercise. The female tends to follow the male around as he flies, but just seems to get loud if he tries to get close to her haha. Would you just say its a matter of time? When should they be ready to be put together and hopefully bond?

Sorry, but being in another cage, and having flying time together is not quarantine!!! Quarantine is being in an entirely different space - another room - for four weeks or more. Being moved into a new household, out of an environment that she knows, etc etc, means that any underlying disease that might be lurking can get the upper hand, as being moved into a new environment can be a very stressful time for a new bird. You have had this poor little bird five days!!! Please just give her time to settle in, first, before even trying to have them boarding together in the same cage! Time, it is all about time. Do you have any idea how old this little hen is? ?? She needs to be at least 12 months of age before you even think about them having a clutch!
