Two of my pairs have two chicks each, roughly the same age. As I am desperately short of hens I am considering letting the one pair raise all four chicks so that the other pair can get on with their second round. if i do this will they just get on with the second round?do you think this is a good idea? And would this be a good time to change the cock bird? As our best cock bird is not currently in a breeding cage due to our lack of hens and him and his chosen hen not producing. Paul

Paul I wouldn't do it Paul,I would be frightened that the hen might abandon them all, best to leave them as they are, can't you buy another hen for your best boy..........

2 chicks will thrive and grow on fast you may well save a week by keeping them as 2 a box

I would foster out the chicks if they are roughly the same age. I wouldn't risk changing the cock before getting two clutches.
