Hey all. Sorry I haven't been on much. Busy times, and not many questions, so, you know... Anyways.. we have three hens, or should say used to have.. because one that has been ill for a while passed away last night, but worse still, Cassie, our dog we are very careful about, got into the hen run last night.. One of the two in there somehow survived unscathed, but the other has been mauled.. She's still in her coop, and alert, but it looks like she tried to walk last night or this morning and failed, so it could be Cassie has done damage to at least one leg.. Mum is going to get Mabel (the injured chicken) out and have a look at her this morning, and give her a saline bath, and we will then decide whether it's worth a vet run, either to see if they can do anything, or to have her euthanised.. or whether she is so close to just leave her peaceful.. I'm waiting anxiously for the decision. If it's a vet run I'll be helping. Vets are only open till 1pm today, so have to work fast, but will hopefully get an emergency apt.. if decided necessary..

Bad bad news.. Mabel is gone too, which means Madge will have to be found a new home as she can't live alone and we can't really get more..

That is very sad news. Rest in peace Mabel and friend.
I hope Madge finds a good home.

We've realised that we are in a restriction zone for avian flu... so Madge will have to stay with us till that is lifted. Just hope she doesn't suffer too bad from losing both Maude and Mabel, because we can't get her a friend due to the restrictions either..
