Is there a way you can put a cage over the seed pot so she is protected from the other birds?

Sorry I didn't explain that properly. They are in a cage separate from the other budgies, but in the aviary. So although they are with the others they can't actually get to each other. The cage is in the part the other birds don't go so no one can jump on the cage etc.

Oh, wow! I don't know much about babies either, but the formula needs to be about the same temp as a baby's bottle, I understand and, in the beginning, not too thick, whatever that is. I think if the formula is too thick then the chick cannot digest it properly and it goes rancid in its crop. You have probably a;ready read through BB's thread, but thought it worth adding in case you hadn't. budgerigarsforum.proboards.com/thread/3287/hand-feeding-budgie-chicks

Thanks both.
I have read everything I can on this site, as well as t he web in general. 12 hours have gone by and it's crop was still empty so I've tried to hand feed it some yolk through a tiny syringe which a lot of sites seem to recommend (second to formula of which I couldn't get today but will order) and the little sweetie did take it and I saw it go into its crop. It was wet, warm and mashed up soft so fingers crossed. I've just closed the aviary up and the little thing is still alive, praying for some good luck for when I check in the morning. Hoping agatha settles and. Starts tending throughout the night.

The baby has died.
I checked this morning and it was alive yet weak, and within the hour it had passed. It's little body was so cold even though I had a radiator there.
I think I'm to blame, I should have left everything to Mother Nature.
There are two more eggs, I don't know if they will hatch or not.

So sorry. I think you did what was best for the chick. If left with the other birds it could have been killed so you had little choice. Is she sitting on the other eggs?

I did do what I thought was best, but I do lay some of the blame at my feet.
When I last looked she wasn't on the eggs, so they may not hatch.

I'm hoping none of them ever lay any more eggs to be honest..... ðŸ˜

I need to bury the baby, but I can't face it. Keep thinking what if it's not really dead and I bury it alive, silly I know.

Wrap it in tissue and leave it for a while, until you are ready.

I'm sorry that the chick didn't survive. It's not your fault.
