Whilst I was on holiday in my large budgie cage with four budgies in it , one of the female budgies layed eggs . Inside the cage their has always been a permanent nesting house since the budgies liked to go in there to play . Previously the same female layed eggs dropping them on the floor and well not being a proper mother so we didn't think further of it on our holiday . There are five eggs from what we can see and one has now hatched . The parents are doing well sharing and looking after the chicks and themselves . The problem is that I go on holiday again in a couple days and won't be there to nurture them and make sure there growth is good but the lady coming in to look after them , with no experience with birds , will come to feed them but I doubt I can get her to do much since it isn't really that fair . The main problem is that the nesting box is high up the over metre tall cage and in a corner where we cannot reach it . The budgies within are not tame so they won't openly let me go in a move the box to check on them . Moreover , I want to be able to have these babies tamed but I won't be back until 1st September and the first budgie has just been born being the 30 July. Will there still be a chance of the budgies openly letting me handle them and becoming tame as there older or will it be too late and I have to try and tame and wild budgie ? I believe they we just be fully fledged so is it ok to handle them when I return and if fully weened remove them into another cage ? I'm very confused on what to do because this is my first litter . Please do hope you can give me advice.
