What can I use as a treat for training my budgie?

Hello everyone!

I can't start teaching tricks to my budgie cause I have no idea with what kind of treats I can reward him with. Where I live there's very few of birds stuff in the stores, only one brand of bird food ect... So there's no millet treats and I don't even know what it is exactly and where to buy it. Therefore, what can I use as a treat instead of millet? His daily diet is based of mixed seeds, vegetables and sometimes fruits so I don't really know what tasty and occasional food I can use as a treat.

Just use what you have. If you have grapes and he loves grapes, use those. If he loves his seed, put some into your hand and offer it to him. Are you able to get hold of any seeding grasses? Most budgies can't refuse these either.

Oh Thanks! I thought it wasn't really a reward and that he wouldn't be interested if it was something he already has at his disposal. What is seeding grasses?

Grass with seed heads on them.

Ah I know these! I saw it before in some gardens, well thank you very much! Next time I see some I'll pick it for my budgie.

Just make sure they haven't been sprayed with any herbicides or pesticides, and wash under a tap when you get home. And not from beside a busy road.
