Guys, i have a concern. About a month back I bought a male budgie and kept him with other 4 female budgies in cage. He paired with one of the Female budgie and today I saw them mating. Also I have realized that female budgie with whom he is mating these days has become lazy and sleeps a lot while others in the cage are still chirping. Is there a chance that she might lay eggs. I am worried about her health. There is no nesting box in cage. What shall i do. Please help

Is there a chance she may be ill. Is she eating and drinking, how are her poops?

A photo of her would be useful too.

It would appear that she is not in breeding condition; budgie hens can tend towards the plump and sedate, particularly if they have a male at their beck and call.

Hi Hezz, not very sure What exactly you want to suggest? Should I buy a new cage and keep this pair in the new cage or since hen is not in the breeding condition and male is mating and kissing her, so keep her only in a separate cage, or everything is fine til now and no action required...Also if there is no nesting box and they are mating, is there any possibility that she can lay eggs?

Don't give her a nest box, and you shouldn't have to separate. Budgies will always feed each other; that is what budgies do. They are not kissing. There is the possibility that she will lay, but most don't without somewhere to lay them.
