Hi ,Kindly quickly suggest me what to do now
My budgie has laid 6 eggs and started sitting on it from the first day. It was sitting on eggs almost all day without any problem. It used to come out and go back to the nest box normally during those days. But after 17 days from the first egg (i e yesterday) , it was coming out more often (4-5 times every hour or even more) .When i go near ,it is going back and sitting on eggs. But it is coming out and staying for 10-15 mins outside and then going back all the time . The cock sleeps with the hen INSIDE the nest box daily. It always go inside the nest box whenever he feels so and hen has no problem with it. Sometimes the cock sits on the egg some time of the day and also disturbs the brooding hen to come out .It has always been this way
Now when I candled the eggs for the first time today 18th day (from first egg) , I see one of the egg having a very big hole on the top (hen or cock might have made it). There is nothing inside the broken egg other than yellow yolk. Other 5 eggs are fertile and all of them have blood nerves and 1 of them is moving. (i can't tell whether any of them is a DIS)
I live in a place hot where room temperature touches 30 degree Celsius in the day and night temperatures can be 25C. Humidity is more than 80 all the time . Right now from past 2-3 days, I am trying to make my room dark by 5 PM evening so that they are roosting. Hen continuously sit on eggs all night till sunrise and cock also sleeps all night with her in the nest box. But once the light come into the room during the day ,hen starts to come out every 15mins or so and stays or sometimes sleeps outside for 10 mins before going .This goes on throughout the day
So, now the problem is my hen budgie coming out very very frequently when it should be sitting on eggs all the time. I am worried as to what can i do now after 18 days? As 5 of them are fertile and showing life ,will they hatch or will they cool off due to hen frequently coming out? Kindly tell me what can i do now at this late end of incubation
