We are starting work on our new aviary for the back garden....it is a 6x6 with a 6x4 outside flight and 6x2 indoor area....right now it is sitting in pieces in the garage as we had it built for us by a company in Shropshire....we went and had a look at what they offered and explained what we wanted and they made ours to order.....now we are working on the foundation and treating the wood....and hopefully by the middle of February we will have it up....have included pictures of the work so far....however I am not sure how to add more then one picture to a post..... This is where it will sit in the garden.....this part is not finished just yet..... Attachments:

This is the base....floor for the inside and open for the flight with the roof behind it....I have just noticed that we are well stocked on boxed milk.... ;D But are open to ideas on how to treat the floor.....as I have just realized that part of the wooden floor will be in the inside flight....and could be interesting to clean....first minor hiccup I think..... What is the best tile adhesive to use that will not harm the budgies....Homebase here I come for more Nectar points..... ;D Kathy

Thanks for the comments. I have in the past used a flexible floor tile adhesive from wicks which is especially suitable for wooden floors but I’m sure most DIY stores sell an equivalent. I wouldn’t worry about the birds as with the use of a good grout they shouldn’t be able to get at it.

i would say this becuse i used it....... but id use .....vinal flooring ...its warmer than tiles .....easyer to fit ...just as easy to wash....get the thick stuff it lasts forever.... plus id get a roll of wire and put it on the bottom of the shed floor...to stop the mice /rats coming up through.....becuse if theres as small a gap as 1 inch mice will gather there ...and live under there very happy...as for insulation i again would say this as i used it .. polystyrene sheets...you can but them 8x4 bnq... .
