Hi there! I am new to the forum and excited to get to know a community of budgie lovers!
I have an outdoor aviary of 20 budgies as well as two show budgies and a cockatiel that live inside with me. Although having had budgies for many years now, I am still learning about how to identify colour mutations. I would like some help on identifying the colour mutations of my two show budgies, Pearl and Opal. These two came from two sets of parents. Pearl (the female) had a normal violet father and a sky-blue mother. Opal (the male) had a DF violet father and a cobalt mother. If I'm wrong on this terminology, please correct me! This was the info given to me by the breeder at the time I got them a few months ago. They are 5 months old now.
I will include a few pictures, a couple of good ones from when they were quite young (around 2-3 months), along with a few more recent pictures and a picture of their wing feathers. Pearl has a distinctive purple-ish colour coming through her pale blue, whereas Opal seems to be more of a dark blue, darker than his mother was but not quite as dark as his father. Their colours seem to be developing more and more as they grow up.
