Hello!
I am really happy that I discovered this forum cause I see that you are really helping people here.
So how do I start... Year and half ago I got two budgies as a gift (no worries, I would get them myself soon anyway), and I was trying to tame them, but didn't succeed. They were just interested in one another and I felt like I can't do anything about it after trying for really long. And in summer one of them escaped. Don't judge me, please. I know I made a big mistake and I'm still sad about it. So then I decided I'd try to tame him (Felix) again. But he just doesn't seem to cooperate even a slightest bit with me. So I came to a conclusion I should get him company. I got another budgie (also male, 40 days old) but I really don't want to fail at taming this one, so I will do my best and I need help with that.
First, I don't want them to get used to each other too much before I tame the new budgie because I know the baby will then be afraid of me like Felix(true?) So that's why I cover the Felix's cage when I'm taming the baby and don't let them be out of the cage at the same time. It's been 5 days since I got him and I think we made some progress. He still doesn't want to go out the cage on my finger though, but when I get him out with the stick I can easily get him to step on my finger. He often flies away after a couple of minutes, but for me that's a big deal, and when I say big deal I mean HUGE DEAL. I've never come that far with Felix.
I want to tame him into a happy budgie that will like me, so now I need advice on how to do that.
I am hoping that if I tame the baby really well, Felix won't be so afraid of me anymore too. Can I hope for that?
Please if you have some advice, write it down. I would really appreciate that:)
