From my lounge, when I am working at my desk, I can see the tops of two trees, one of which hangs a bit over my car.
the last few days, there have been loads of big twigs on the ground and today, I can see why.
There is a magpie nest in the tree next to it.. and the birds are flying to the tree over my car, as it is a bit spindly and breaking off loads of twigs to take back the nest.
Unfortunately, they are dropping more than taking.. lucky my car does not show fine scratches easily.
but fascinating watching them go back and forth. one has the most enormous tail..
will see if I can get it all on video

As long as they aren't pooping on the car. If they do start, you will have to start cleaning the car because the bird lime can damage the paint. Look forward to the video. Are they keeping you awake yet

I was going to say but OP beat me too it, they will get very noisy protecting the nest, get the ear plugs ready. We have sycamore tree on the other side of my boundary which always has magpies nesting in it, they make a right din but like you say fantastic to watch!

Very interesting. I'm always intrigued watching birds nest building.. That is the first time I have seen magpies though.

sorry it is not that clear, I had to zoom in to get them, and only on a phone. I stopped, because I had my arm resting against the window ledge but in an awkward position

Love the video of Bailey, he sounds much nicer than magpies ever could! At my previous address, I had a large garden which was surrounded by trees and it attracted quite a lot of magpies. One summer, the magpies kept waking me up at 4am almost every morning with their cackling and screeching and I was puzzled why they were always in my garden. Then one morning I discovered why. My garden was also a favourite with the local fox, who would bring his breakfast back to eat in my garden. The magpies would gang up and try to scare the fox away, hoping he would leave his food behind. That explained all the noise! Thankfully the fox must have moved on and the magpies were left to find their own food.

Clever magpies. Luckily these are not near enough to my bedroom to wake me up.

Clever magpies. Luckily these are not near enough to my bedroom to wake me up. "Clever" was not the first word I could think of to describe them, after being woken up at stupid o'clock in the morning!
