So sad. Council are cutting down a street tree outside my house with a nest of baby native Wattlebirds in it. Poor things.

Surely they will be rehomed? Don't let them destroy the nest Stace! Are the chicks big enough to be raised by carers? Please make a nuisance of yourself and make sure they aren't just thrown out with the tree!

The tree cutters have left temporarily, as there's a parked car in the street blocking their access to the tree trunk. A fancy new BMW, so I think they are worried about damaging it. Hopefully, I'll still be around at home when they come back.

I hope the Wattlebirds are taken care of.

This story didn't end well, I'm afraid. I tried to save them, but the horrible council contract workers wouldn't let me get near them.
The big eucalyptus tree is gone, and the mum and dad wattlebirds were flying around screaming when they got home to find no big tree, no babies, and just a hole in the ground.
Very upsetting.

It's very sad and very inhumane.
