When Teddy died I swore I would never have another dog but I feel so lost without him and there is a hole so big that I need to fill at least some of it, I will always have a space for Teddy. So I have been looking for a puppy. I found a lady who breeds Chinese crested puffballs, which Teddy was, crossed with a Bichon, but his character and look was mostly chinese crested. The lady has some puppys due in April so we have our name down for one of them. The issue with that is we want a puffball male and as cresteds can have both hairless and hairy pups in the same litter there is no guarantee she would have a male puffball. Well today she contacted me to say someone is unable to have the puppy she reserved from the litter that she has at the moment, so she has offered him to me. We can have him next Tuesday. I am so excited to have a new baby in my life, someone to give all the love I have stored away that has nowhere to go.

I just keep squealing with excitement. There is just this empty space, it just doesn't feel right without Teddy and as much as I miss him and always will I feel I need something to love and take care of. I have my birds but they are getting sick of me trying to cuddle them all the time, as is my 17 year old son.

How exciting! I bet you've got ants in your pants, waiting til Tuesday!!! I hate waiting for anything. But I was prepared to wait until April, when the other litter was due, to see if there were any powderpuffs amongst them and then wait another 2 months for it to be old enough to leave the mother. That was killing me, not even knowing if there would be a suitable puppy. It was torture.

I’m so excited for you starlingqueen and I’m sure Teddy would be happy to know you can be a mummy again to another furbaby. I don’t plan to get anymore when my two go but the hole they will leave in my life will be massively huge so I understand completely just how you feel without Teddy. Once you’ve experienced the love from a pet/dog it’s hard, if not impossible, to go back to being without them in our homes and lives. I can’t wait until Tuesday for you. A pets at home job this weekend then? 😄

Wishing you lots of fun, long walks and good companionship......as well as patience (I miss my dog but have stuck to not having another - feel sure I wouldn't find one to match her)

But I am going in with an open mind and treating this puppy as a new beginning and a different experience. N one will ever meet up to Teddys standards but maybe he'll set his own standard and be just a special in his own way.

Just as no two budgies are the same in personality, neither are two dogs, and no one would be a replacement for another. They are all worthy of their own slice of love and affection. Roll around Tuesday.
