Just to give you an update as they haven't been on for a while and I have been busy collecting eggs! We generally get FIVE every day now. Tuppence is the only one not laying, one of the 'ladies' and she is rather a big lady, perhaps she won't lay any more. The others however, are doing really well, even Tilly who is my other 'older' lady. They have fun daily now by turning over the compost heap!! There's a few worms in there (at the moment that is!) Meanwhile, Aurelia has decided to sort out one of my large containers, there was a dahlia in it last year until the chickens ate it! Daily she goes in and has a dig about and (silly me) daily I sweep up the mess. Picture taken through glass, so quality may not be very good. Nooooo. I don't let them in!! Because of not being 'toilet trained' !!! Their poos can really be quite messy at times. Having said that, Dusty did get in on one occasion, pooed on the mat and went out again!! No, I don't wish to accept the challenge, thanks anyway Hezz. They only come in if I have to physically pick them up and bring them in for medical reasons (like a spa bath!). Dusty had to come in twice a day, every day for 7 days to have her medication. Even though she hasn't forgotten the experience she still tries to come in on her own!

Great pictures! They look huge! They are huge, bless them. Fortunately they have small wings situated high up so there is no flying over fences and because of their weight they dont get much lift anyway.

They're beautiful. Do they like to be stroked?

They're beautiful. Do they like to be stroked? I don't think they actually 'like' being stroked as such criswell. But if you go near them they 'assume' the position (as if the cockerel is going to mount) we call it 'the squat' then you can ruffle the feathers at the lower part of the back of the neck, quite firmly and they seem to like that. Then when you stop they shake and rearrange all their feathers. It is also easy to pick them up when they squat, and you can then stroke/chat/sit with them on your lap. They don't always want to oblige though. They haven't been brought up to be cuddly birds!
