Another bumble foot. Tuppence had bumble foot last year which you may remember my daughter and I sorted out. Well she has just had her second one! Again daughter and I are dealing with it, but on checking the dressing after a week, we found a second 'bumble' on the top of her foot. The bumble on the bottom of her foot is healing nicely by the way. Pictures to follow of the second bumble on top of the foot, between the toes: Top bumble: Bumble 2 A by on Flickr Here we are soaking her foot in warm Epsom Salt water to soften the bumble. See how relaxed she is, her head is just getting lower and lower. Some relaxed chicken. Bumble 2 B by on Flickr This is it, it's like a hard grain/seed type thing: Bumble 2 C by , on Flickr Then after foot bathed in clean Epsom Salt water again, dabbed with Fucidin cream under a gauze pad, bandaged beautifully by my daughter with Vetwrap. Oh dear Tuppence. At least you know how to deal with it. Is it possible you didn't cure/remove it all the last time?

Ah sorry, it's a different area of the same foot.

Yes Marianne Marlow it is on the top of the foot, between the toes, the one on the bottom is nearly healed and is a different one of course to what we removed last year, which was also on the bottom of the foot. What a nightmare! No, it's a new one OP. The first one was completely cured last year.

I see. Have you any idea why it should be affecting just one foot on one chick?

I think OP it is because Tuppence is very overweight. Overweight chickens are prone to this apparently. It is a lesson hard learned from giving chickens too many treats when I first got them. They now only have sensible non fattening treats, so I am ashamed to say it is all probably all my fault.

Oh dear! Lesson learned as they say. I am surprised at the root of the cause though. Get well soon Tuppence.

Birds rarely give their feet a rest, so it makes sense. Looks like all is under control, thankfully. Well done for being so vigilant.
