there is a magpie nest near where I park. on my way in before, in the car, I saw one on the ground, and he did not even move when I got near. Stayed there when I walked near him/her. I came in and got some water to put out. When I approached he moved away, and can definitely walk/move, but not sure about fly. Or what has happened. I stayed near by watching but his partner or parent then was going mental from my guttering. I had visions of being attacked, so I walked away. I just looked out and it is still on the ground, a bit further over now. So not likely to be hit.
Not sure what else I can do really.. cannot see anything obvious in terms of injury. Maybe he fell and just stunned for a while now

i think now I can see it from my window.. it is lack of tail. I am hoping as he is within sight of the nest that one of the others will feed him. Someone else just went over and he scuttled away under my car. i went out again.. he does have a tail, but not long as it should be. I put the water nearer him but then the other one went mad again.
Just so sad

he drank the water, so I went out to put more in, and give him some berries, but he walked the other way. not sure if he will move again to where I put the stuff. will check again soon and move if need be.
hopefully he will think to go back again. I felt like saying to the cackling other one, if you are so bothered come down here and help

If you are being kind to the one on the ground he/she will remember and will not run away from you. The ones on the gutter will also remember you have done no harm and so should not attack you. You may even be making friends with them. If you do start to harm any of them they most certainly will scold you and not forget either. If there is no visible damage to the one on the ground just keep an eye on it if you can. Not a lot more you can do with the guardians hanging about. If it is still there and the others have left then there will be something wrong with it. You could contact the RSPCA and see if they will do anything.

I can’t see him now. Where he was, he could have easily gone over the edge of the car park to a bit of a rubbish area. It’s not far down but he may be stuck somewhere.
I will keep watch until it’s dark.

I looked today.. nothing. I think it was got by some animal or another. And the other magpie has gone too now.
