after picking my 2011/12 pairs things were very slow for me, although the birds bonded very quickly thats about all that happened. pair 2 started mating about 10 days ago and much to my surprise after cleaning the cages out this morning i checked the nest boxes and there it was ........... an egg in box 2, another one due on sunday. 3 months of hard work and doubt finally pays off ;D

Congrats! I had to wait nearly a year for my first pair to bond up and mate! Perseverance pays dividends

second egg laid this evening, slightly worried tho as she tends to move the wood shavings/sawdust about and will it not draw the moisture out of the egg? ?

before putting sawdust in a nest box you could always leave it out in the air so that the moisture draws into it this will help the eggs from drying out, personaly i only add sawdust to a nest box when the chicks have hatched as most of my hens just throw it out.
