Thanks for the advice guys! I am making slow progress with Bonnie. He jumps on my hand with or without seeds (in the cage). And when I let him out he climbed on my shoulder and was with me on the bed for an hour or so. We played with the ball and I took a tissue to clean his upcoming mess and he liked poking it. He is still terrified of my hands tho, he can jump on my arm but avoids hands at all cost. He doesn't fly away when I come near him but when I offer him treats outside of the cage he slowly moves away to the other direction. If he is really hungry he eats but hesitates to jump on my hand. He also likes climbing to the highest points and he screams when I go out of the room for some minutes. He still thinks, when I put my hand inside the cage, that I either want to feed him or let him out, because he pecks my hand and then runs to the door and puts his head near the bars. I thought about keeping him inside the cage for a week but he really seems unhappy (walks in circles, throws the ball and starts to scream). I'll continue feeding him from my hand and talking to him. I am only unsure if I should let him out more.

If you are having no issue getting back into his cage, then by all means allow him out whenever you like! You will both benefit. Generally people have trouble getting their budgies to return to the cage, and they end up following the bird all around the room/house trying to entice them back into their cage. That is the only reason why I would suggest you wait some time before letting him out. I would suggest, though, that you don't leave food out of the cage - feed him little treats for sure, but don't make food readily available out of the cage. This will ensure that he does go back home when he gets hungry enough, if he does decide that freedom is a lovely thing.

We are making progress! Bonnie is straight up jumping on my hand and I'm giving him treats for it. Now when he is out he has no fear of going near me. He also lands on my shoulder or arm if I lift it up <3 I am training him in my small bedroom because it doesn't have so many high grounds and he has no choice but to hang out with me :"D After a couple of months I might take him to the other, bigger room. Should I cover up any high spot with boxes in that room? I fear that after I let him out he might go to the high place again and loose interest in me. So I would be set back in training. And do you guys have any tips on training when calling a budgie back to your hand?

And today he had his first bath time! He was outside with me for a really long time and I took his bowl with water and I noticed that he started to bathe. I took a bigger bowl and here's the result! He is in his cage now I also have a video of him bathing if anybody wants to see! I also noticed that he has a strange smell, his usual smell is mild but today it was rather strong! How much should he bathe?

Was his smell strong before or after his bath? Wet budgies do have a strong smell, so if it was this, I wouldn't worry. Some budgies love to bath, some just never do, so don't concern yourself too much over his bathing habits, just give him the opportunity to do so. Don't let him bath towards the end of the day - he needs to be dry before it starts to get too cool. If you can sit out in the sun with him on a warm day, add a dish of water to his cage. They often like a bath when in the sun. When you let him into the bigger room, just make sure that there a not place he can fall behind - bookshelves, heavy cupboards etc, that don't have space for him to get out from behind. If there are, you will need to block these gaps for the short term, at least. Being in the larger room should not affect your bonding.

And thanks I will continue training him! Also forgot to add, he started taking the bath when it was evening, so when I put him back to the cage I turned on my table light so he could warm up and he dried really fast! Next time I'll try to do it in the natural sunlight.

A smell when not wet is unusual.
Hector smells sort of waxy when dry, but when he's had a bath he smells like turmeric.

When I got him his smell was mild and before he took a bath his smell was strong. I never smelled anything like it. Once I go to the vet I will ask them about it.

Could you describe the smell? It was as if something burned. Not sure how can I describe it in other matter. Burnt and oily smell.

They can smell of what they have eaten, but I can't imagine what he might have eaten that would make him smell like that! Does he smell better now, after his bath?

He eats seeds and I give him millet and apple as treats when I train him. He smells way better now. I tried feeding him with a carrot but he wasn't interested in it as much as apple. My apartment has one room with bathroom and bedroom. The kitchen, working station and the living room are all connected. The working station is only divided by a wall but it isn't isolated from the kitchen nor the living room. Can budgies "absorb" the smell of cooked food? Maybe his feathers "absorbed" smell of fried meat hence the smell. D: I also keep all my windows open all the time (except when I let him out), so the smell doesn't stay for too long. And do you have any recommendations for food? I bought two types of seeds for him (one with minerals and one with normal seeds) and I have been feeding him that along with millet and apple as treats.

Try him with a spinach or basil leaf or other green leafy veg. I usually just clip a leaf to a peg and my two love it.

I gave him broccoli and a bit of lettuce. He likes it. One thing i noticed with him is that he attacks my finger when I try putting some veggies or apple inside the cage. Is he "defending" his territory? And is there a way to make him stop attacking? When he is outside with me he is calm and he never attacks my fingers nor hands, which is strange.
