Just arrived from the avian vet, he said that Bonnie might have some bacteria and I was given a medicine to put in his water for a week. I had to buy a different type of seeds too, and he told me to lessen the fruits and vegetables.
He also handled the bird roughly so he could examine his stomach and body and told me that I should teach Bonnie to get used to hands. He said that I should take him with my hands and pet him, hold him etc. I am still shocked because everywhere I searched they advised me to give space to the bird and to just teach him to hang out with me. I was unaware that you have to force him and grab him and hold him in the hand just like that. Bonnie was "screaming" at him while he was handling him and was biting him, later he stopped and became calm. I am unsure what to think right now. Because the information I got from the vet is the opposite from the information online.

I definitely don't believe that you should force a bird to be handled. My vets have been gentle with holding birds.

I suppose he was gentle as well since he didn't squeeze or do anything to hurt Bonnie. Maybe Bonnie overdid it with the "screams" and his wild behavior because he is maybe terrified of the hand. The vet was just a bit rough while examining his belly and body, which I suppose he had to do to see if he has any odd spots. And for the handling I quote the vet: "You should try holding him so he gets used to it, you know, pet him, hold him and just carry him inside your hand". I asked him if it isn't too rough on him because Bonnie always "screams" when I put my hand near his body and he said it isn't and that I should take the advantage of him being a hand fed budgie and do it more often.

I just don't understand how Bonnie can jump on my hand when I want to let him outside, fly to it and even stand on it without a problem but once I move it in a different way he starts to panic.
