Do you find it easy to get your budgies in at budgie bedtime? Or are they little rebels? I seem to have mine down to an art of getting various budgies to get on the stick, telling them it's bedtime and lifting them to their cage. The only budgie that isn't stick trained is Hector and luckily he follows Blueboy in

For the first four months, bedtime was a real pain. Boo would fly up to the chandelier, and since I have really high ceilings, I'd have to get the huge ladder out and turn out the lights to get him down (wouldn't pass occupational health and safety rules).
Now though, he is such a good little boy. As the sun goes down, he ups and takes himself off to bed every night. Sometimes, once he's in his cage, he pops back out over to me to say goodnight, and then hops straight back in.
It's just too sweet.

Heh heh. They do like to fly up to the highest places where we can't reach them! Glad to hear that Boo is now being a good boy and sending himself to bed

Bedtime has never really been an issue in our house. In fact I used to use the evening for really good one-on-one time and just sitting around with the family, BUT Sparky has thrown a real spanner in those works. I always found the evening to be a good settling down time, sitting still with people time, when the birds were more receptive to sitting and being quiet. Sparky - na-ah. As soon as the sun even thinks about getting ready to set, I can't get him anywhere away from the cage, and for some reason the other two have followed!!! Oh well....

Mine hardly leave the aviary although the door is always open when I'm at home. Talion is the only one who regularly sits on the "roof" or flies around the room like mad. Tia is a bit of a scaredy-cat and rarely leaves the aviary. Titus does but never for long, and Tessa can't fly so she'll sit on the outside perches sometimes but that's it - and when I come closer, she goes inside. Talion sometimes gets a "second wind" just before bedtime but he's a very clever boy - when I tell him it's sleepy time he always goes back in

Tweet goes to bed on his own. Only had two days of difficulty getting him in. Tweet is a cute name for a budgie. What a good boy Tweet is going in on his own! The other day Snowy was doing some "Jerry chasing" so I went to put Roswell and Jerry in one cage and Monty and Snowy in another. Jerry and Roswell sent themselves to bed. I must have trained them that this is what to do when they are naughty! Made me smile
