Hello all, one of my breeding pair had there first egg today, I moved them into there breeding cage 6 days ago so hasn't took that long, hopefully the others will follow lol, is it best to mark the egg if so wot type of pen is best?

Congrats! I don't use a pen if I can help it, the ink can cause problems on the shell, a simple soft 3B, B or HB will work just fine as long as you don't press hard. Use it lightly. I have a cheap set from the poundshop for this purpose alone, all the H pencils are still untouched but all my stuff from HB to the B4 is short and stumpy now, lol. Here's a pic of some old eggs of mine with pencil on them; I think one is DIS in this photo hence the greyness to them, it's a reference pic off my website Soph.

At 6 days old it may not be fertile , i have used a number of felt tipped pens with no problem.this should be the last time you handle the egg

Hiya thanks for the help, they only been in breeding cage for six days they paired befor that in the colony
