Hello!! I am new to keeping budgies, although we've had parrots for years. I have 2 11 weeks old babies named Frank & Betty, Betty is Lilac and Frank is Turquoise. I have been told they are 11 weeks old anyway. I've read so much about Budgies on the internet I am going cross eyed, my main concerns are that they are a bit too old now to become really tame? I know 11 wks is still quite young. I put them in their new cage yesterday and after and hour or so they were making lots of noise and telling each other off, they have eaten and used their swing...this is a good thing from what I have been reading. Any tips on taming quickly, I have been sitting beside the cage as often as I can and talking to them, after 1 day they are slightly braver and will come close to me, they also have been eating and chirping so these are all good signs I guess - any help would be great THANK YOU

Welcome Chloe and budgies. Spend time with your birds and they will tame up. I suggest you read all the other posts in "Taming your budgie" too, as people probably have already asked the questions you are thinking of. If after that you still have questions on taming, put them up in that section of the forum and we will endevour to help out. Photos of Frank and Betty when they are settled, please.

Hello Guys!!! :0) Thanks for the reply, yes they are named after Frank Spencer - my first choice of names were Sid & Nancy but they are too sweet to be Punk rockers haha!!! So I went for a more suitable name, as a kid I used to love Frank Spencer As soon as I can I will post a picture of them, my new PC is coming at the weekend so I will upload some pics for you!!!! So....last night I managers to get them both to stand on the stick while I moved it, they seemed very at ease with my hand in the cage and for me to be moving stuff around, I still take it slow but I think they are brave enough for me to try and move them about inside the cage!!! I would love to let the out but don't want to freak them out - Frank already sticks his head out the bars and investigates almost getting his head stuck - bit like the real Frank Spencer haha!!!! I will try again tonight with the stick but will shorten it Chloe

"Card, card. Sample, sample." Frank Spencer was so excruciatingly funny.
