She hangs with her beak at the side of the cage and doesn't sit on the perch. She never stood like that before. Why is that? I had read that this shows that something is wrong. Is that true?

Some of mine have done this from time to time, i don't think it's too much to worry about, some of mine do it upside down too just to be really silly

Oh, thank you so much for replying. I panicked when I saw her like that.

Yeah, my baby budgie used to do this when he sleeps at night till the next morning for the first 2 weeks after we got him, but now he sleeps normally on a perch, I was worried too but he seemed fine, I thought it might have been out of fear maybe (a new place), but thankfully it passed in peace

If this is an older bird that has just started doing this, I would be concerned. Check her feet, make sure that she doesn't have any sign of bumblefoot on either feet or even further up the legs. Any redness, swelling, hotter than normal means there is something wrong.

She never did this when I brought her home the first days, neither did she the rest of the months I have had her. Last night was the first time she stood like that. Today she is sitting on the perch, just from the opposite side. She always sat facing left, never right, but now she sees the right side. Is she just trying other things or something? She chirps and she sings, she eats, drinks, nothing else appears to be wrong.

Did you check her feet and legs? Have things, anything, been moved around in her cage? A new perch, toy, swing etc?

From what I can see, everything seems good, but I can't really see much since she doesn't come to the hand yet. Nothing has been moved, removed or added in her cage. Tonight she is back to her usual position, on the perch, facing left. It was just unsual and made me panic. She isn't a baby and she isn't adjusting to a new environment. She had never done this before. And she never sat like that at the perch either, at that side, which was kind of weird, too. I will keep watching her to see how she does. Thank you all so much for your time and for your replies. I hope you & your birdies are well, healthy and happy.

Bit late to comment on this sorry but some of mine do this when going to sleep and I was told (can't remember who by or when) that it helps them breath a bit better as it opens up their airways. Not necessarily a concern in itself of a respiratory problem as I've got a couple who have done this for years when they have gone to sleep and they haven't been ill.
